Mack Truck Mechanic
A Mack Trucks mechanic is a skilled technician responsible for maintaining, repairing, and inspecting Mack brand heavy-duty trucks, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards. This role requires both technical expertise and the ability to work in demanding environments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Routine Maintenance: Perform scheduled services such as oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotations, and lubrication of moving parts
Diagnosis & Repairs: Use computerized diagnostic tools to identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel engine issues
Component Replacement: Install, repair, or replace parts including brakes, transmissions, engines, air conditioning/heaters, and electrical systems
Safety Inspections: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational readiness
Testing & Validation: Test drive vehicles to confirm repairs are complete and safe
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections
Fleet Support: Work with fleet managers to schedule maintenance, track vehicle performance, and reduce downtime
Customer Liaison: Communicate with drivers and customers about issues, repairs, and service needs
Technical Updates: Stay current with Mack’s latest technology, safety standards, and repair procedures
Environmental Compliance: Ensure work meets environmental and emissions regulations
Required Skills and Qualifications
Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and heavy vehicle systems
Diagnostic Skills: Proficiency with both manual and computerized troubleshooting tools
Attention to Detail: Precision in repairs to ensure safety and performance
Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex systems and implement effective solutions
Manual Dexterity: Skill in using hand tools and power tools.
