Position Summary

The Masker is responsible for preparing and protecting aircraft parts and components prior to processing, painting, or coating operations. This role ensures surfaces not requiring treatment are properly shielded while maintaining compliance with customer specifications, work orders, safety standards, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process parts in accordance with shop work orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and established procedures.
  • Apply masking materials and protective coverings to shield surfaces that do not require processing, painting, or coating.
  • Follow instructions and direction from supervisors regarding specific tasks, priorities, and production requirements.
  • Inspect incoming parts to ensure integrity and identify any damage, scratches, or defects prior to processing.
  • Complete work orders, inspection records, and all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Verify masking accuracy and ensure parts meet processing and quality requirements before release to the next operation.
  • Safely handle, store, and manage hazardous materials in compliance with company procedures and state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assist with continuous improvement efforts related to production efficiency and quality.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or industrial production experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, specifications, and drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive precision work.
  • Basic knowledge of masking materials, tapes, plugs, and protective coverings preferred.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in aerospace coating, painting, or surface preparation environments.
  • Familiarity with hazardous material handling and safety procedures.
  • Understanding of quality standards and inspection requirements.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and processing environment.
  • Exposure to chemicals, coatings, and industrial materials while using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Requires standing, bending, lifting, and handling parts throughout the shift.
