Plumber – Modular Homes

Job Summary

The Modular Home Plumber is responsible for installing, assembling, testing, and maintaining plumbing systems in factory-built (modular) homes. This role involves working in a production environment to ensure all plumbing components meet design specifications, safety standards, and local building codes before delivery and installation on-site.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install complete plumbing systems in modular units, including:
    • Water supply lines (PEX, PVC, copper)
    • Drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems
    • Fixtures such as sinks, toilets, tubs, and water heaters
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and plumbing layouts specific to modular construction
  • Measure, cut, thread, and assemble pipes and fittings
  • Perform pressure testing and inspections to ensure leak-free systems
  • Collaborate with electricians, carpenters, and HVAC technicians within the production line
  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal plumbing codes
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing issues during production or post-installation
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean working environment
  • Document work completed and report any design or installation issues

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Mid-level of plumbing experience (modular, residential, or construction preferred)
  • Experience with PEX, PVC, and copper piping systems
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of plumbing systems and building codes
  • Attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Manual dexterity to use plumbing tools and equipment

Work Environment

  • Indoor factory or warehouse setting for modular home construction
  • Exposure to construction-related noise, dust, and materials

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

  • Experience in modular or manufactured housing
