We are seeking an experienced and skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex diesel engine problems, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of diesel-powered vehicles. Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair complex diesel engine problems using advanced diagnostic equipment and techniques
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tune-ups
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, starters, and alternators
  • Repair and replace faulty parts, including injectors, turbochargers, and cylinders
  • Use precision measuring tools to align and adjust engines and transmissions
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues before they become major problems
  • Keep accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on each vehicle
  • Work efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure that vehicles are returned to service quickly
  • Collaborate with other technicians to complete complex repairs
  • Stay up-to-date with manufacturer updates, recalls, and technical bulletins

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary training in diesel mechanics or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic or equivalent experience working with heavy-duty diesel engines
  • ASE certification in diesel engine repair or equivalent certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine theory, diagnosis, and repair techniques
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in cramped spaces
  • Valid driver's license required (may be subject to change based on location)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with heavy-duty diesel engines (e.g. Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar)
  • Knowledge of electronic engine control systems (e.g. electronic fuel injection, engine management systems)
  • Experience with diagnostic software such as JPRO or TruckLink
  • Experience with transmission diagnosis and repair (e.g. Allison Transmission)
  • Knowledge of air brake systems and diagnosis

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a fast-paced shop environment with frequent exposure to loud noises, fumes, and vibrations
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in cramped spaces
