Job Summary:
The Director of Construction is responsible for overseeing all aspects of home construction, from planning through completion and closing. This role includes managing contractor-built projects, pre-construction, procurement, and logistics. The Director ensures construction processes run efficiently, meet productivity goals, and stay within budget. As a leader, the Director fosters a positive, team-oriented environment and supports initiatives aimed at making the Construction Department a top workplace within the affiliate.

Key Responsibilities:
Construction Management:
  • Collaborate with the Chief Construction Officer and Architect on home designs for Hernando County.
  • Oversee permitting, site development, and the construction build calendar.
  • Schedule and supervise pre-construction phases and project timelines.
  • Manage and coordinate all subcontractor activities, resources, and equipment.
  • Inspect sites to ensure quality control, contractor compliance, and adherence to schedules.
  • Address and resolve site issues proactively to avoid delays.
  • Monitor working hours, budgets, and project expenditures.
  • Ensure safety standards are met and actively maintained at all construction sites.
Leadership and Team Management:
  • Foster a positive work culture, promoting collaboration and engagement across the team.
  • Train and coach staff, ensuring their technical proficiency and personal growth.
  • Monitor and support staff training requirements and participation in company meetings.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to facilitate rapid growth and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Construction Superintendent and Director of Warehouse Operations to enhance construction procedures.
Safety & Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Construction Officer to implement new safety procedures.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Participate in company meetings, special events, and disaster preparedness plans.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of residential construction and supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to train semi-skilled and unskilled volunteers.
  • High School diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and PROCORE.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and sexual offender check.
  • Knowledge of Florida Building Code standards is a plus.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and other physical activities are required.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
