Seeking a skilled professional responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery and equipment within a manufacturing facility, ensuring smooth operation by performing routine inspections, troubleshooting malfunctions, and completing preventative maintenance tasks, often requiring proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to diagnose and fix issues effectively. 
Key responsibilities of an industrial maintenance tech include:
  • Preventative maintenance:
    Performing regular inspections and servicing of machinery to identify potential problems before they occur, including lubrication, cleaning, and calibration. 
  • Troubleshooting and repair:
    Diagnosing and fixing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on industrial equipment by analyzing symptoms, utilizing technical manuals, and replacing faulty components. 
  • Equipment installation and disassembly:
    Installing new machinery and equipment, as well as disassembling existing units for repairs or upgrades. 
  • Reading technical documents:
    Interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and maintenance manuals to understand equipment operation and repair procedures. 
  • Parts inventory management:
    Maintaining a stock of spare parts and placing orders as needed to ensure timely repairs. 
  • Safety compliance:
    Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures while working on machinery. 
  • Reporting and documentation:
    Maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and equipment issues. 
Skills and qualifications typically required for an industrial maintenance tech:
  • Mechanical aptitude:
    Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including gears, bearings, hydraulics, and pneumatics. 
  • Electrical knowledge:
    Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot basic electrical problems. 
  • Welding and fabrication skills:
    Proficiency in welding and basic fabrication techniques may be required depending on the role 
  • Hand and power tool proficiency:
    Familiarity with a variety of hand tools and power tools used for maintenance tasks 
  • Problem-solving skills:
    Ability to analyze issues, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions 
  • Technical literacy:
    Capability to read and interpret technical manuals and documentation 
  • Physical stamina:
    Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods
