Key Responsibilities

• Surface Preparation

  • Clean, sand, and strip surfaces to remove old paint, rust, or debris
  • Repair minor surface damage (filling cracks, dents, or holes)
  • Mask and protect areas not being painted

• Painting & Coating

  • Apply primers, paints, varnishes, and protective coatings
  • Use brushes, rollers, or spray equipment for even application
  • Ensure proper drying and curing times between coats

• Finishing & Detailing

  • Polish and buff painted surfaces for a smooth finish
  • Inspect completed work for quality and consistency
  • Touch up imperfections and ensure color matching

• Maintenance & Safety

  • Maintain tools and painting equipment
  • Follow safety procedures when handling chemicals and working in confined spaces
  • Dispose of hazardous materials according to regulations

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with painting or surface finishing (marine experience preferred)
• Knowledge of marine paints, coatings, and corrosion protection methods
• Ability to operate spray guns and other painting tools
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
• Physical stamina (standing, bending, lifting, working in various weather conditions)
• Understanding of workplace safety and protective equipment

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• On-the-job training or apprenticeship common
• Previous experience in automotive, industrial, or marine painting is a plus

Work Environment

• May work indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Exposure to fumes, chemicals, and noise (protective gear required)
