Duties and responsibilities that a refrigeration mechanic is expected to perform include the following:

  • Install refrigeration systems and components
  • Conduct routine inspections
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions
  • Repair or replace defective parts
  • Perform preventative maintenance
  • Test system operations
  • Recharge refrigerant systems
  • Interpret blueprints and technical diagrams
  • Follow safety protocols
  • Communicate with customers
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Ensure compliance with codes and regulations
  • Inspect and test system components
  • Install and configure electronic control systems
  • Upgrade existing systems
  • Manage inventory of parts and supplies
  • Provide training and guidance
  • Perform emergency repairs
  • Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers
  • Stay updated on new technologies
  • Offer energy-saving recommendations
  • Install and maintain industrial refrigeration systems
  • Conduct performance tests
  • Perform retrofitting on older systems
  • Coordinate with other tradespeople.

Refrigeration Mechanic Skills:
